About this Role:

The ideal candidate will manage family law matters from intake to hearing and assist attorneys in resolving legal disputes on behalf of clients by drafting agreements, calendaring case deadlines, compiling discovery, and assisting in trial preparation. Paralegals have direct client contact on a frequent basis and provide an excellent customer experience for clients.


 

Responsibilities

  • Client intake and reception. You will be the first point of contact when the firm is contacted by a new client or other general service call. You will be responsible for scheduling consultations and completing an initial client intake with each new client.
  • Case and File Management. Organization skills are a must. It will be your responsibility to ensure client files are kept up to date in our case management software. This includes calendaring of court dates and case related deadlines.
  • Drafting of Pleadings, Motions, and Notices. Paralegals are often tasked with drafting of regular notices and similar procedural filings. The ideal candidate will also have strong writing skills and the drive to draft more complicated case filings and motions.
  • Anticipating Case Needs. We are looking for someone who is a self-starter and has the experience to intuitively know the next steps in a case. They know when to send reminders to clients of case deadlines, they know when to file notices, and they are instrumental in moving each case forward.

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 4 years family law paralegal experience
  • Associates degree or equivalent
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills. We are looking for somebody who can communicate professionally and courteously with clients from all walks of life. This includes personalities that may be difficult or high-conflict.
  • Tech-Savvy. Experience with Colorado’s E-Filing system, Microsoft Office, Windows Operating System, Clio Case Management, and Google Suite is a must. The firm prides itself on being technology-forward.
  • Organization and Attention to Detail. These are a must as you will be responsible for balancing the needs of multiple attorneys.

  • Advocate on behalf of clients by understanding their needs, effectively analyzing the situation, and forming a strategy and a plan of action
  • Manage full case responsibilities from inception through resolution
  • Prepare clients and cases for hearings, court conferences, mediations, and trials
  • Appear in court to represent clients and ensure clients are effectively represented at court hearings
  • Organize and maintain client files to ensure they are kept current
  • Interact with clients and work with experts

 

Qualifications:

  • JD from an accredited law school
  • Applicants must reside in the state of Colorado and be a licensed attorney in the state of Colorado.
  • Prior family law experience is a huge plus, but not required
  • Public Defender or District Attorney experience is highly desired, although also not required
  • Experience preparing and arguing motions, attending court hearings, preparing cases for trial and hearing, and experience researching and drafting briefs and motions
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
